Connect Gallery Web Site
Client: National Museums Scotland
Introduction
The Connect Gallery website for the National Museums of Scotland. An engaging and interactive website for the Connect science and technology gallery primarily for 5 to 14 year olds.
The Brief
The Connect Gallery - a new permanent Science and Technology Interactive Gallery at the Royal Museum needed a website that was as exciting and engaging as the gallery itself.
Project Outcomes
The Connect Gallery website was developed closely with the project team from NMS that produced the physical gallery at the Royal Museum in Edinburgh. The idea with the website was to pave the way to allowing online visitors to have a glimpse and similar experience to visiting the realy gallery. To this end the website is in a constant state of evllolution. Before the physical gallery opened, the website was available, telling people about what was coming. Currently the website is expanding its content to slowly match the range of content and learning that is available on site. In the future the website may contain a range of information that is extra to the physical exhibition, but the catalyst will always the being able to come and experience and see the real things. That is where the website will never exceed the gallery, but the website has the potential to exceed the gallery on the range of material it can facilitate.
My Experience
This project was great as the gallery campaign was a very strong graphic and conceptual identity already - I was fortunate with the people that I was working with as they were keen on evolving the theme of the gallery and continuing the interactive and responsive nature of the material through the gallery into the website.
